Are We The Right Fit For You?

Finding the right person to watch your dog is hard to do. Not every dog does well in a Daycare environment and not every dog does well at every Daycare.

All About Daycare & Boarding

The Winkler Collar Club offers a structured environment that allows your dog to interact with other dogs in a safe and calm space.

Your dog's day at the Winkler Collar Club will provide the physical and mental stimulation that your dog needs to be the best it can be. Your dog will gain confidence, learn proper social skills, reduce anxiety, improve manners, exercise, and have fun! Not all dogs play at daycare, however, being able to relax and be calm around other dogs is also socializing!

Not all dogs do well in a Daycare Environment and that's okay! Daycare can be very fast-paced which causes dogs to be overwhelmed and stressed. You can have the best-behaved dog outside of Daycare that loves interacting with other dogs but becomes overwhelmed and scared here. This is why we require an Evaluation before any dog can come for Daycare/Boarding.

The Winkler Collar Club does allow Intact Males/Females.  With that being said, when a Female is in heat they will NOT be allowed in the Facility. Please wait 3 weeks after she stops bleeding before bringing her back. Females are still fertile during that time.  If you choose to Spay/Neuter your pet please wait 3 weeks to ensure they are fully healed before coming back to The Winkler Collar Club.

The Winkler Collar Club does not allow pregnant dogs in our facility. If your dog is currently pregnant or recently had puppies please keep them at home. A daycare environment will be stressful for them and will cause complications for her.

The Winkler Collar Club has a ZERO Aggression Policy! We are not a Training Facility however, we are always willing to work with a dog and its owner(s) to a certain degree. We keep our lines of communication open and offer solutions if we can, but if your dog is a danger to us or other dogs it will not be allowed back into our facility. If you are aware of any concerns in regards to handling your dog, or reactive behaviour, please make staff aware. Daycare is not the place to socialize fearful or overly anxious dogs. This can make it worse.

We have the right to permanently or temporarily remove your dog from the daycare at any time. Banning from the Winkler Collar Club can take place if we see any signs of unprovoked bad behaviour.

Every dog has their own personality that we learn when they are here. Not every dog will play and that's ok!. Being able to co-exist is also a great way to socialize. We also know that some dogs have food allergies. This is why we do not give treats in the Daycares. Resource guarding is another thing some dogs do. Resource Guarding of food and toys can be a problem in a daycare environment. This is why we do not allow toys in the daycares and everyone gets their own kennel (unable to see other dogs) to enjoy any meals you have provided for them. The goodie bags you receive when your dog is here have the ingredients clearly labelled so you know if it is safe for your dog.

The Winkler Collar Club Requires all dogs to be up to date on current Vaccines (Parvo/Distemper, Rabies and Bordetella) or a Positive Titer Test Result.

Not too sure what to bring for your dog for Daycare? Here is what we recommend!

  1. Bring your dog in on a Leash. A leash makes for a smoother handover as well as stops for on-leash greetings. Some dogs have leash reactivity.

  2. Food. If your dog is here for any of their meals you are more than welcome to bring it. We do have many different kinds of dishes (slow feeders, stainless steel, plastic). There is a fridge we have strictly for raw as well as scale to measure the correct amount.

  3. If your dog has recently had their vaccines updated, please bring a copy of their Vaccine Certificate or have your vet e-mail us a copy.

  4. If your dog requires medication, please ensure we have clear instructions to properly administer them.

  5. Do not bring beds, blankets, or toys for Daycare.

6 am - Doors open for Daycare

7 am - Boarding Dogs let out to go potty outside before starting their day in the Daycares

11:30 am-1 pm - Everyone gets put away for lunch. All dogs are kenneled over lunch if they have food or not. This gives everyone time away from each other to eat in peace and relax. This also gives us time to clean/sanitize the daycares during the day.

3/3:30 pm - Mid-afternoon potty break

4:30/4:45 pm - Potty Break before Supper.

8 pm - Evening Potty Break

8:30/9 pm - Boarding and remaining daycare Dogs are put away for the rest of the evening/night *
