FAQ's
What time can I drop off/pick up?
For daycare, you can drop off and pick up anytime between 6 AM-10 PM. Any pickups after 10 PM would have a late fee of $1/minute

For boarding, the earliest you can drop your dog off is 6 AM and the latest is 8 PM. This ensures your dog has time to get out the last of their energy and settle in the daycares before being put to bed. After 12pm pickups from a boarding stay will be charged for a full day of daycare. Late fees also apply to boarding pick-ups.

How do I enroll my dog in for daycare?
Before having your dog join us for daycare/boarding an evaluation must be booked as well as a copy of your dogs up to date Vaccine Certificate (Rabies, Parvo/Distemper, and Bordetella). See our Evaluation tab for more details!

Do you have multiple dog/cat pricing?
We offer multiple dog/cat pricing for daycare, boarding as well as for our Packages

What does my dog do all day at daycare?
We prioritize individualized mental and physical enrichment for each dog. Our activities include, but are not limited to, one-on-one structured walks, patience training in the lobby (practicing calm behavior without jumping or pulling on the leash), and interactive games such as fetch with impulse control exercises. Other enrichment activities include flirt pole play, scavenger hunts that encourage scent work—ideal for breeds bred for tracking, like hounds—and more.
When not engaged in one-on-one sessions with our staff, dogs participate in supervised group play, carefully organized by size and temperament. While many dogs form close play bonds, others may prefer a more relaxed experience, enjoying quiet time and naps. For safety reasons, toys are not provided in group settings to prevent resource guarding and ensure a positive play environment for all.

Why can’t I watch my dog in daycare like most other places?
Good question! If an owner or stranger comes in and stands at our door/windows it can cause our pack of dogs to get too excited creating an unbalance in the pack which usually leads to excessive barking which can trigger a fight. You are more then welcome to take a peek through our windows to see what your dog is up to.

Do I need to make a reservation for my dog to attend daycare?
A reservation is recommended in case we are fully booked for the day. We do have a set staff = dog ratio that we abide by to keep everyone safe. We understand that last-minute plans happen but please call before you come to ensure that we can care for your dog.

Is your daycare supervised?
Our facility is supervised 24/7. As long as we have a Dog/Cat in our Facility there is someone here.

Can you feed my dog while they are in your care?
You betcha! Please bring your dog's meal in a labelled container/bag and make sure to let one of our staff know when you would like your dog to be fed. We also have a fridge strictly for Raw and additives such as cheese, eggs, wet food, etc.

Can you administer medication to my dog while they are in your care?
Yes! Please ensure staff is notified of any medications your pet needs during their stay with instructions on how to administer!

What if my dog is being a troublemaker in daycare?
Our staff is trained to recognize any behaviour issues and correct their behaviour if necessary. If we notice that daycare is not the appropriate environment for your dog we will let you know and discuss different options to set your dog up for success. In extreme situations, we may request your dog to not return to our facility.

Will daycare help my dog if he is nervous and shy?
If we take things slowly we can usually help nervous/shy dogs become more comfortable but that isn’t always the case.

Do all dogs enjoy daycare?
No. Dogs are very social animals but they don’t always get along. There are dogs that find being around lots of other dogs overwhelming. Some dogs like to play rough with one another and some like to laze around and just hang out.

Do you provide water throughout the day?
Of course! We always have fresh water out for everyone in their kennels. Everyone gets water breaks throughout the day to ensure everyone stays hydrated.

Why did my dog come home thirsty?
Every dog has a bowl of water in their kennels. They will have access it to during scheduled water breaks as well as over meal times. Some dogs prefer to drink when they are home which is completely normal, but they are given plenty of time to have a drink of water while in our care!

What are the benefits of a mixed dog environment?
There are so many benefits of a mixed dog environment. Including proper socialization, confidence, manners, less destructive behaviours, learning communication and respect among other dogs, and much more!

Do you have an aggressive policy?
Definitely. We have a zero-aggression policy! We are always willing to work with a dog and its owner(s), to a certain degree. We keep our lines of communication open and offer solutions if we can, but if your dog is a danger to us or other dogs it will not be allowed back into our facility. If you are aware of any concerns in regards to handling your dog, or reactive behaviour, Please make staff aware.
We have the right to permanently or temporarily remove your dog from the daycare at any time. Banning from the Winkler Collar Club can take place if we see any signs of unprovoked bad behaviour.

Are there any risks to a mixed dog environment?
Unfortunately yes. When dealing with animals there is always a chance that something can happen. With careful screening, supervision, and monitoring we try and prevent anything from ever happening to our clients but we cannot guarantee anything. Dogs like to play with their paws and mouths so scrapes/nicks are a possibility. We try and keep roughhousing down to a minimum by keeping the dogs in our daycare calm. If we notice anything we will always inform you when you pick up and if it’s something more serious we will call you and your dog will be taken directly to the vet no questions asked.

What vaccinations are required for my dog to attend your daycare?
All dogs attending daycare must show proof of vaccinations for Distemper/Parvo, Bordetella Kennel Cough) and Rabies. Proof of titer is accepted in lieu of vaccinations.

Do you have a spay/neuter policy?
We assess each dog according to its behaviour. If your dog isn’t suitable for our social environment we will let you know. If a female is pregnant or in heat, they are absolutely not allowed to socialize with our pack of dogs (cannot attend daycare/boarding).

Our Story
Winkler Collar Club first opened its doors in April 2018. On July 15, 2020, my husband, James Dubois, and I, Victoria Dubois, took over the business with the vision of creating a premier pet care facility. I pursued my education in Animal Sciences in 2011, and with this knowledge, I have been dedicated to shaping Winkler Collar Club into what it is today. While there is still more to accomplish, we are excited about the progress we’ve made and the future ahead.

In December 2023, we relocated to our current facility at 620 Cargill Rd. This move has provided us with new opportunities for growth, and we look forward to expanding our services in the years to come. Currently, we offer Dog Daycare, Dog Boarding, Cat Boarding, and Dog Grooming services.

Our facility operates 24/7, with public hours from 6 AM to 10 PM, seven days a week. Our dedicated team ensures that every pet in our care is safe, comfortable, and happy. Each staff member is highly trained in reading canine body language, properly introducing dogs, and facilitating structured socialization to create a respectful and enjoyable environment for all.
Maintaining a clean and sanitary facility is one of our top priorities. We adhere to comprehensive cleaning protocols to promote the health and safety of all our clients.

As passionate pet owners ourselves, we understand the importance of individualized care. We have two dogs of our own—Marley, a 4-year-old Long-Haired Chihuahua, and Lilith, a 4-year-old Great Dane—each with their own unique personalities. They occasionally make appearances at the Club, and I love spending my days with them. Our beloved Winston, a Short-Haired Chihuahua, was also a cherished part of our family until his passing in 2024. His memory continues to inspire our dedication to providing the best care for every pet. My passion for animals has also been passed down to our daughters, who take great interest in getting to know each pet and their distinct personalities when visiting the Club.
